Strategic Scheduling to Support Emergent Bilingual Students: La Promesa High School's Innovative Approach
How a specialty high school in Aldine Independent School District leveraged scheduling to create an innovative learning environment for newcomer students
Overview
Districts across the country grapple with how to best serve their emergent bilingual students, particularly those new to the United States. In response to this increasing need, Aldine Independent School District (ISD) took an innovative approach: they created La Promesa High School, a specialty campus dedicated to supporting newcomer students.
This charge came with many scheduling challenges but La Promesa was determined to not compromise on their priorities of creating a uniquely supportive learning environment that balances academic rigor with targeted language development support. Through scheduling enabled by Timely, La Promesa was able to achieve results for students never before possible.
